Frequently Asked Questions

How is Orig3n different from other providers of DNA Tests?

We prioritize social good and actively strive to build community with the public. We also:

  • Offer a broad range of DNA Tests for consumers across many categories (nutrition, fitness, behavior tendencies, skincare, and more)
  • Analyze DNA Tests in our own on-site laboratory; samples are never sent off-site to a third party
  • Provide consumers access to their genetic information via a mobile app
  • Manage the world’s largest human cell bank for future testing on regenerative medical therapies
How is my DNA collected and does it hurt?

We will send you a collection kit that includes instructions, a cheek swab, and a prepaid return shipping envelope. Using a soft swab, you’ll rub the inside of your cheek for 20 seconds. The rub should be firm, but not firm enough to cause you any pain or discomfort.

How does my DNA become a report?

Once we receive your DNA sample, our scientists analyze it at our on-site laboratory. Our genotyping machine, Marvin, works hard to decode your sample, and then our lab scientists take a closer look to ensure accurate results. You can view your results as soon as they are available through the app.

How do I receive my report?

Download our LifeProfile app to view your report. On the app, you’ll be able to view your genetic assessment. About 4 weeks after our lab receives your sample, your personalized profile will be ready to view. Simply download the LifeProfile app and enter your identifying information to access your genetic assessment. You can also view your results by logging in at:

How is my privacy protected?

We have stringent standards around safety and privacy. Your information is available to you—only. Your DNA sample is attached to a barcode in your DNA Test Kit so that we know whom the results belong to. You can view our full privacy policy here.

Why do I need to register my DNA Test Kit?

Registering your DNA Test Kit will link your DNA sample to a barcode so we know the sample is yours! Fill out the self-registration form with your personal barcode at, using the Registration Card found in your kit.

How were genes selected?

The genes in our products were selected from peer-reviewed scientific publications and leading research. In our app or online, you can review a list of references below your results.
